Cat Food from Prima Diervoeding

Waking up to head bumps and loving licks from your fluffy ball; that’s something you want to enjoy for a long time. That’s why it’s important to provide your cat with high-quality cat food.

The Right Composition for Quality Cat Food

But now you’re probably wondering: what nutrients does my little adventurer actually need? First and foremost: animal proteins. In other words, meat. Cats are naturally true carnivores. So make sure to feed your cat food with a high meat content. Additionally, sufficient proteins, fats, minerals, and vitamins (such as vitamin A, vitamin E, calcium, and phosphorus) are important.

What about taurine?

Moreover, quality cat food must contain enough taurine; an essential nutrient that has several functions:

  • Indispensable for proper heart muscle function
  • Ensures a well-functioning digestive system
  • Keeps your cat’s body temperature stable
  • Supports the absorption of good fats
  • Contributes to brain development and sense of smell

Unlike cats, most animals produce taurine themselves. Since your fluffy ball cannot produce taurine well on its own, it’s important to feed cat food that contains sufficient taurine. Do you give your house tiger kibble or wet food that lacks taurine? Then your cat will eventually develop a taurine deficiency. And you shouldn’t take that lightly; a taurine deficiency can lead to nervous or aggressive behavior, heart muscle diseases, a weakened immune system, and blindness. It can also cause slow development in kittens. Naturally, you want to spare your dear friend from this as much as possible. Therefore, consciously choose quality food that contains enough taurine.

Dry Food for Cats

As cat lovers, we know our house tigers can be very picky. That’s why we have included a variety of dry food for cats in our range. Prima Diervoeding offers options such as grain-free cat food, kitten food, and food for sterilized cats.

Crispy or Pressed?

In pet stores and online shops, you’ll find a wide range of both crispy and pressed dog kibble. However, that doesn’t apply to cat food; our picky gourmets prefer not to eat pressed kibble. Why is that? Most cats don’t like the texture of pressed cat kibble. That’s why 90% of dry cat food consists of crispy kibble.

Make the Cat Meal Even Tastier with a Supplement

With one of our supplements, you make the meal irresistible for your four-legged friend. It doesn’t take much: add a few drops of salmon or sardine oil, and your fluffy ball will be in seventh heaven. These oils — which mainly consist of fats — are essential for your cat’s health. For example, kidney function and skin benefit greatly. Also, your house tiger’s coat will shine beautifully. Did you know that cats cannot produce certain fats themselves? Besides omega-3, arachidonic acid (omega-6) is also an important fatty acid for your cat’s health. Since your house tiger cannot produce omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids on its own, it’s necessary to feed cat food where these fatty acids have been manually added. A few drops of salmon or sardine oil provide an extra dose of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. That’s going to be a treat!

Also Give Your Cat Wet Food

Because cats are naturally poor drinkers, this can — in severe cases — lead to dehydration. That’s why we need to ensure our fluffy pets get enough moisture in another way. One of the best ways to do this is by giving your four-legged friend wet food. Wet food, also known as canned food or pouches, consists of about 80% moisture. This way, your house tiger not only gets enough moisture but also plenty of proteins. Moreover, canned food contains few carbohydrates. This makes wet food quite close to your cat’s original diet. The only downside of canned food is that it contains fewer nutrients due to the high moisture content. For this reason, you need to give more wet food to compensate.

Let Your Kitten Grow Up with Kitten Food

With kitten food, you support young rascals in their development. At Prima Diervoeding, we want to provide your kitten with the right nutrition. That’s why you can also find kitten food with us. But what is the big difference between food for kittens and adult cats? The answer is simple: kitten food contains more proteins, vitamins, and minerals. This ensures your little fluffball grows well. But that’s not all; a higher amount of taurine is also added. This is essential for proper development of the nervous system, vision, and heart function. In short, all the nutrients your little troublemaker needs at a young age.

Why You Should Choose Grain- and Gluten-Free Cat Food

At Prima Diervoeding, we are aware of the impact of too many grains and gluten. Often, an excessive amount of grains (and thus often gluten) causes allergic reactions. Why is that? Unfortunately, the digestive system of cats is simply not made to digest a lot of grains — especially of poor quality. To reduce the chance of stomach and intestinal complaints in your furry four-legged friend, we offer grain-reduced and grain-free cat food at PrimaCat.
