The Benefits of Wet Dog Food

Give your dog a happy life with everything it entails; from long walks, cozy naps to furry cuddles. Moreover, a tasty and healthy dog meal is part of that. For this reason, the best kibble and delicious snacks are a real must. Want to take your dog's diet to the next level? Understandable! With wet dog food, you enrich your furry friend's meal. Whether you mix the kibble with Prima Diervoeding’s wet food or give the wet food separately; both options guarantee a meal to savor.

What are the pros and cons?

Not sure yet if you want to supplement your furry friend's diet with wet food? Below you’ll find a list of the pros and cons.

A high moisture content

Because wet food consists largely of moisture, it helps maintain your dog's hydration. For example, Prima Diervoeding’s wet dog food contains 67-80% moisture; ideal for dogs that drink little.

Enticing aroma

Although dogs are less picky than cats, it can still happen that your furry friend doesn’t eat well. However, there is a way to make your dog enjoy their meal. Mix some wet food into your dog’s kibble; the enticing aroma will make your dog more likely to eat the kibble now. Curious about the flavors (and aromas) of Prima Diervoeding’s wet food? The texture is much softer

Due to the hard texture, senior dogs may have difficulty eating kibble. Also, dogs with dental problems don’t like (hard) kibble. Wet food softens the texture of dry food, making it easier for your senior dog or dog with dental issues to chew. Of course, you can also give the wet food without kibble.

Adjust the amount

Although a high moisture content brings many benefits, it also means fewer nutrients per volume. To provide your dog with the same amount of nutrients as dry food contains, you need to give more wet food. Don’t give wet food randomly; follow the feeding chart on the packaging. Based on your dog’s weight, the chart calculates the required amount.

How to store wet food

When the pouches of wet food are unopened, you can safely store them outside the refrigerator. Once opened, you must keep them in the fridge. Also, make sure to cover the pouches or cans well and do not leave them for more than 3 days. Have leftover wet food? Freeze the portions so you can use them later.

Wet dog food to savor
